Painting: small success

The five paintings I did for Shawn's class were not quite finished. By the time I got into the swing of things, the semester was over and it was time to hand them in for evaluation. So I turned them knowing they needed more work. Having had a break from them over Christmas and photographing them before I took them off the stretcher , I did find some small portions that I actually liked. They give me a basis to begin this semester; a starting point.I am realizing that sometimes less is more and I hope to expand on that.

Another Hat

This is the 3rd hat I made over the holidays. It's knit in Berroco Inca gold, a really nice yarn that is 80% merino and 20% wool. It has a high twist that when knit up makes a really lovely pattern in stocking stitch. I probably would never have looked at this year if Joshua hadn't wanted a green hat. Having now used it, I really like it and would use it again, Oh ya, I did.
Back to school. I still have a full course load so I may have to put my knitting on a back burner. I am though, thankful for my school friends for being my models. They wear the hats so well.

Hats and more Hats

I love making hats. They are easy, quick and I get to try a yarn I've never used before. Practical, they are very practical especially when it gets cold and snowy here in Kelowna. I made 3 patterns last week, 2 are posted here and available as a Ravelry download. The third one needs a model so I can photograph it and make the pattern.
